comment [en]	The latissimus dorsi is a broad flat superficial muscle of the lower part of the back that originates mostly in a broad aponeurosis attached to the spinous processes of the vertebrae of the lower back, the supraspinal ligament, and the crest of the ilium. It is inserted into the bicipital groove of the humerus, and extends, adducts, and rotates the arm medially and draws the shoulder downward and backward.

comment [de]	Der Musculus latissimus dorsi ist ein großer Rückenmuskel, welcher Ansatzpunkte am Schulterblatt und Oberarmknochen besitzt. Er ist der flächengrößte Muskel des Menschen und lässt sich in vier Teile untergliedern. Die Pars vertebralis ist der Wirbelteil, die Pars costalis der Rippenteil, die Pars iliaca der Beckenteil und die Pars scapularis der Schulterblattteil. Seine Aufgabe besteht in der Senkung des erhobenen Arms, dem Zurückziehen des hängenden Arms und der Innenrotation des Arms im Schultergelenk.
