Da seine Sehne mit der Gelenkkapsel verwachsen ist, fungiert er zus?tzlich als Kapselspanner. Zudem bewirkt er eine Adduktion und Innenrotation des Armes. Er ist Teil der Rotatorenmanschette.

comment: [en] The subscapularis muscle is a triangular muscle which runs from the ventral side of the shoulder blade to the humerus. Its tendon is attached to the shoulder joint capsule thereby stabilizing the shoulder. The subscapulatris medially rotates and adducts the humerus. It is one of the muscles comprising the rotator cuff.
